The Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Georgia, one of the largest of its kind in the U.S., is recognized internationally for its comprehensive and integrative research and outreach portfolio, spanning basic, translational and applied programs. Our scientists ensure the economic viability of agriculture, Georgia’s largest sector of the economy, and contribute to national and global food security through reduction in crop losses. Equally important, our research increases the understanding of basic biology through new discoveries on pathogen biology, resistance genetics and host-pathogen interactions. The breadth and depth of our programs can best be appreciated by visiting the summary for individual faculty research areas.
