E.S. Luttrell Lecture

32nd Luttrell Lecture

Join us Wednesday, May 18, 2022, for the annual Luttrell Lecutre as Dr. Jan Leach, University Distinguished Professor at Colorado State University,  will provide this year's lecture entitled "Building broad-sprectrum, long-lasting disease resistance into plants".   Reception at 10:00 AM at the Coverdell Atrium Rotunda, seminar to follow at 10:30 AM in 175 of Coverdell. 

Dr. Leach, Associate Dean for Research in the College of Agricultural Science at Colorado State University, is an authority on the molecular biology of plant– pathogen interactions.  She focuses her research on understading the moleucular basis of durable disease resistance, particularly in rice-pathogen interactions.  The 2022 Luttrell Lecutre marks the 2nd time Dr. Leach has presented, she was 2000 presenter previously. 

 She is a Fellow and has served as President of the American Phytopathological Society (APS).  She has been honored with numerous awards including the Agropolis Fondation Louis Malassis International Scientific Prize for Agriculture and Food for Distinguished Scientist as well as is a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.  She earned her BS and MS in Microbiology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and her PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
