Double Dawgs 4+1 Programs
The Double Dawgs program is a dual-degree 4+1 curriculum that gives ambitious and motivated students a competitive advantage in today’s knowledge economy. By earning both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in 5 years or less, students can save time and money while positioning themselves for success after graduation.
The Departments of Plant Pathology and Plant Biology have partnered to offer a Double Dawg program that integrates a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology with a Master of Science in Plant Pathology. In addition, the Department of Plant Pathology participates in two Double Dawgs programs that involve the Master of Plant Protection and Pest Management (MPPPM) professional graduate degree. With its interdisciplinary coursework, the MPPPM ideally complements undergraduate degrees in the agricultural sciences:
- Plant Biology Bachelor’s + MS in Plant Pathology (Athens: Contact: Dr. James Buck, jwbuck@uga.edu)
- Horticulture Bachelor’s + MPPPM (Athens; Contact and Pathway Adviser: Dr. Jean Williams-Woodward, jwoodwar@uga.edu)
- Agriscience and Environmental Systems Bachelor’s + MPPPM (Athens and Tifton; Contact: Lisa Wimberly, lwimberl@uga.edu)
Timeline: After a student has completed 2 years in the undergraduate program, they will be able to apply to the pathway into the dual degree program.
