Extension Interests and Current Efforts
My extension and research program at the University of Georgia focuses on disease etiology, diagnostics, fungal genetics, fungicide resistance, and integrating chemical, biological, and host-resistance strategies for sustainable disease management in ornamental production systems. Current research emphasizes major diseases of boxwood, a widely used landscape shrub, with the goal of understanding pathogen diversity and identifying disease-resistant cultivars. We are also developing projects targeting fungal and oomycete pathogens that cause root and crown rot in a multitude of greenhouse and nursery ornamentals. As an Extension Specialist, I work closely with UGA Extension agents, growers, plant breeders, and industry partners to address existing and emerging disease challenges and to support a profitable and resilient ornamental green industry in Georgia.
